Nepse still lost 47.78 points

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) lost 47.78 points to close at 614.79 points this week. In the opening day the index was at 662.57 points. Last week, NEPSE recorded 660.40 points in the closing day.

However, NEPSE, the sole secondary share market transaction amount increased to Rs. 483.8 million from Rs. 345.4 million of the last week, a 40.08 per cent up compared to the last week transaction.

This week, NEPSE traded 789, 600 shares of 99 companies in 5611 transaction at a cost of Rs.483.8 million. Last week, 466,300 shares of 90 companies were traded in 4374 transaction at a cost of Rs. 345.4 million, according to the NEPSE.

Of the total shares traded, Group-A companies contributed Rs. 342.1 million of the total transaction, which alone stood for 70.71 per cent. Last week, the contribution of the group ‘A’ companies’ was Rs. 234.0 million of the total transaction.

This week, only manufacturing companies’ group sub-indices witnessed a positive growth, while, the hotels groups’ saw no transaction.

Of the total group sub-indices, the commercial bank groups lost 74.60 points and slipped to 604.67 points, the hydropower companies lost 27.16 points and slipped to 628.56 points and the business group index shed 10.46 points and dropped to 271.32 points.
Similarly, the insurance companies’ sub-indices dropped 629.20 points losing 17.98 points, the finance companies’ lost 17.98 points and dropped to 638 points, the development bank groups lost 25.28 points and slipped to 669.99 points and the others group index shed 11.75 points and 645.02 points in the opening index.

Of the positive growth index, the manufacturing group was only the index to gain 4.41 points. With this point, the manufacturing group climbed to 438.35 points.

This week, hotels group sub-indices saw no transaction to remain at 366.85 points, according to NEPSE.

The sensitive index lost 16.43 points and slipped to 157.42 points and the float index shed 5.09 points to close at 58.53 points in the opening index.

This week, Nabil Bank (with Rs. 67.83 million transaction amount), the Standard Finance Limited (with 135,000 shares brought and sold) and the Citizens Bank International (with 407 transactions) stood at the top in the respective categories.

Following the Nabil Bank, the Standard Charted Bank Limited with Rs.58.42 million, the Bank of Kathmandu (BoK) with Rs. 36.49 million, the Standard Finance Limited with Rs. 34.99 million and Nepal SBI Bank with Rs. 18.36 million were the top five banks in terms of weekly transaction amount.
