Nepal Credit and Commerce Bank Limited (NCC) and, Doha Bank, one of the largest private commercial banks in Qatar, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to facilitate remittance services to Nepal through the banking channel.Ratna Raj Bajracharya, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NCC and R. Seetharaman, CEO of Doha Bank, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations.
With the signing of the new tie-up, over 400,000 Nepalese out-bound workers are expected to reap benefits from the remit service. Doha Bank is also planning to expand its remit services to other Gulf countries, the bank said.
As per the banking facility, Nepalese workers’ working at Doha can open accounts free of cost in its 40 branches in Qatar. With the start of this e-remit facility, Nepalese could remit their money to their homeland.
On the occasion, Prithvi Raj Ligal, Chairman of NCC Bank, and Bank’s CEO Bajracharya, said that the tie-up would benefit the Nepalese working in Doha from an easy and accessible remittance facility of Doha Bank.
According to the NCC Bank, it accumulated Rs. 570.04 million as a net profit in the last fiscal year. Similarly, the bank’s operation profit stood at Rs.374.2 million as against Rs. 254.6 million of the previous year. This is an increase by 47 per cent.
The bank’s deposit stood at Rs.9.13 billion in the last fiscal year, an increase by 24.82 per cent as against the previous year. In the review period, bank’s floated Rs.7.18 billion, which is an increase by 36 per cent, the bank claimed.
