Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) witnessed a marginal growth of 3.50 points in its index over the week compared to the first day on Sunday last week. The shares were traded for just four days. The shares were not traded on Wednesday due to public holiday.
The NEPSE index went up to 737.84 points on Thursday from 734.34 on Sunday. The indices however remained higher on Monday and Tuesday than that of Sunday.
Of the nine major sectoral indices, banking group saw an increase of its index by 11.05 points followed by development bank with an increase of 10.32 points. The group comprising finance companies also witnessed positive growth in its index by 2.93 points.
The indices of four other groups however declined.. The hydropower group witnessed the biggest decline in its index by 38.54 points followed by the group categorised as others with a decline of 11.74 points. The insurance group saw in decrease in its index by 5.66 points. Another loser was the trading group which saw a decline in its index by 5.48 points.
The sensitive index went up by 1.60 points to 197.77 points.
The shares of 84 companies were traded over the week. A total of 754,100 shares worth Rs. 407.90 million were traded via 4303 transactions. The turnover amount last week increased by 3.52 percent compared to previous week.
Nepal Bangladesh Bank topped in terms of transaction amount with a turnover of Rs.44.04 million.
